Knowing if a tube is good or bad may be the least of your worries.  Finding a replacement for it may be the challenge.  Many of the tube checkers even from the  50s or 60s may not have capabilites of checking tubes of that vintage.   Specifically, what tube are you looking for ???

Is there someone in West Michigan that has a tube tester? I have a 1920
era Sear Radio that quit working and I suspect it is probably one of
      the tubes.

Or is this anyone who would be willing to do some diagnostics on it?

I saw a tube tester at the Holland swap meet in October, but I didn't
pay much attention to it or the person that had it there.
