      Was just looking at a Collins ad from October 1953 on the KW-1 transmitter.  It weighs in at 600, lbs, draws 3100 watts at full power on phone,  and the price ????    A mere $3,850.  In '53, the average wage was $4,000.00/year and the average car cost $1,650.00
          Considering today 25K is poverty level income, kinda looks like a good deal to me.
