As you might have read in a previous post we are “organizing” a little field trip to go to
the Clinton Anderson Walk About Tour in Reno on November 7-8, 2009.
Yes, we know it is the same weekend as Mists/Cynagua War but this is the only chance this year Clinton Anderson will be within resonable travel distance from the West Kingdom. So far we'll have a group of eight stalwark equestrian enthusiasts! Come join in the fun!
The event is being held at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Center located at 1350 N. Wells Avenue in Reno, NV.
TICKETS COVER BOTH DAYS
Advanced ticket price is just $25.00 (www.downunderhorsemanship.com)
Tickets at the door are $50.00…best to get them in advance.
The workshop runs 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
There looks to be an exhibitors/merchants area as well. So you may be able to find some good deals on stuff for your horses (grin)!
We have been using Clinton’s “method” with our Mustangs and have been very impressed with the results. For those unfamiliar with this renowned trainer/clinician you can check out his website (given above) or catch his T.V. shows on RFD-TV (check your cable guide for details). From our experience, his methods seem based on the concepts of safety, communication, horse sense, practicality and common sense. Yes, we KNOW that the M/C War is that same weekend but this is the only workshop being held within a reasonable travel range from the West Kingdom. Our plan is to attend both days but you can do just one if you wish. We’ve book a room via Hotwire at the Grand Sierra Resort on 2500 E. Second Street in Reno. Room rate was $39.00 (with tax $50.52) which is normally $80.00 (so use Hotwire if you can). The hotel is just 2.5 miles from the Livestock Center. It has a variety of restaurants, a casino and other amenities. Grab a friend, split the room cost and have a blast!
Can you tell we’re making a weekend out of this trip (grin)? Some folks are meeting us there Saturday evening as they will be attending on Sunday. See…flexible plans (grin)!
If you want to be part of this little group field trip, PLEASE get your tickets IN ADVANCE (it saves you money, big time) and drop us a note at dcamville@... so we can keep you in the loop as to further plans. We’ll be leaving the Placerville area about 6:00a.m.on Saturday, with a stop in Auburn to pick up some friends and then we’ll head over the hill. We can offer up crash space at our place in Placerville Friday and night if folks want to carpool/caravan (we have room for two adults plus luggage) or we can just meet up at the Livestock Center Saturday/Sunday mornings. Crash space is available Sunday night as well.
Hope to see a few of our West Kingdom equestrian enthusiasts joining us!
