Howard University Hospital will host the Third Annual International Conference on Stigma from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, in the Blackburn Center Ballroom. The conference will inform the community about HIV stigma and its impact on patients and their families. The conference comes on the 20th anniversary of HIV activist Ryan Whites death. White brought HIV stigma into the spotlight after he was expelled from middle school because of his infection. His mother, Jeanne White Ginder, will be the keynote speaker at the conference. International speakers as well as representatives from the Centers and Disease Control and the White House will also be present at the event. The conference is free and open to the public.
