mount a 1 pdr swivel gun and fire blanks. It is more difficult to
research how they were actually used. Common sense dictates that a
wooden stock was attached. (I am a great believer in common sense.)
Have a look at the swivels on Pride of Baltimore II, which are
equipped with wooden stocks. The swivels aboard Cartier's vessel at
Newfoundland this year had underarm iron appendages. The 1 pdr
breech loaders aboard the Mary Rose had underarm appendages.
