There is an excellent article in the current (Sept/Oct. 2000) issue of
'Wooden Boat' on the reconstruction of the topsail schooner 'Lynx'.
Lynx is being built at Rockport Marine yards in Rockport, Maine, and is
close in design to the Baltimore Clippers of the 1812 period. Vic
Suthren is involved in the project. The pictures and drawings published
show she will be a beautiful vessel. Sailing techniques, crew training
and outfits will be of 1812 vintage, and she will have four six-pounders
and four swivel guns as armament. She is intended as a 'school' ship to
train youngsters in sailing and history.
      Great project!
