      Red and Black faced regiments had drummers with white coats lined in red but
      faced in scarlet. Scarlet was in fact the facing colour of all non Royal
      regimental drummers. White and Buff faced regiments also had red linings to
      the coat, and all others white.
      All coats were laced to some extent, Royal regiments copiously so with white
      and blue lace with silk fringe on the collar. Non Royal regiments were to be
      laced over the seams but the bars on the sleeves were at the discretion of
      the Colonel.
