Two events have been added to the War of 1812 Events Calendar website

      http://royal.scots.tripod.com/warof1812eventslist/index.html

The Battle of Horseshoe Bend - Mar 27-29, 2014 and
      Fort Jackson 200th Anniversary - May 2-4, 2014

These events are part of the Creek Indian War, an offshoot or subset war of the greater War of 1812.

This information was sent to me by Steve Abolt.

      Dave Westhouse.

Commemoration Battle of Horseshoe Bend March 27-29
200th anniversary event hosted by the National Park Service
Location Horseshoe Bend National Military Park
Located between he towns of Dadeville and New Site AL on AL HWY 49
This is a living history even and not a battle reenactment.  Camping on original pristine battlefield

Ft. Jackson 200th anniversary event. We are working on the exact title using quotes from period letters.  Anniversary of the building of the fort
      May 2-4.
Location Ft.s Toulouse Jackson State Park Wetumpka, AL
sponsored by 7th USILHA, Fts Toulouse Jackson Park and Bast's Company of Spies and Scouts
Event will feature camping in original fort, period patrols to the confluence of the Alabama, Coosa and Tallapoosa River, building sections of the fort, drill, camp life, post rides and a period tavern.  Park is several hundred acres with two forts. One is the reconstructed French Ft. Toulouse, the other Ft. Jackson.  Ft. Jackson is original.

There is also a modern campground with hot showers.  The town of Wetumpka is about 3 miles distant.  There is plenty of infrastructure in the forms of  stores restaurants and lodging..  This will be an immersion living history event.
