      "Celebrate American Fort-itude" at the

      Fort Meigs Founder's Day Event

      Saturday, February 2nd

PERRYBURG, Ohio- Commemorate the 200th anniversary of Fort Meigs on the actual date it all began! On February 2nd, War of 1812 soldiers and civilians will host a small winter encampment to recreate what life was like as Fort Meigs was constructed. Activities take place inside and outside of the visitor center. Learn what it took to construct Fort Meigs during the winter of 1813. Soldiers will demonstrate period construction techniques such as hewing logs and building defensive works. Help dig a trench by using a pick axe or shovel to try to break the hard frozen ground. Soldiers will also provide weapons demonstrations throughout the day.

Warm up inside the visitor center with hot chocolate and treats while you watch demonstrations from the time period. See how clothing was made in 1813, dress up as soldiers at the kids' clothing station, learn how to make rope, watch period carpenters work, try your luck at hand sewing and more! In addition you will be able to tour our exhibit of never before seen artifacts on display in the museum.

The event runs from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 2nd. Admission for the event is $5 adults, $4 seniors, $3 students, Ohio Historical Society members and children five and under are free.

Fort Meigs, the largest reconstructed, wooden-walled fort in the country, is located one mile west of downtown Perrysburg at 29100 W. River Road (S.R. 65).
