Subject: 1812 The District of Columbia Militia Uniforms

Is anyone aware of a source I could find information about the District of Columbia Militia uniforms (or lack thereof) at Bladensburg? No mention is made in Chartrand's "Warlike Appearance," and I'm having trouble figuring out how to uniform them in my product line (28mm historical miniatures).
Did they wear civilian clothes? Did they have coatees with lapels and round hats?
Were they a motley collection of independent volunteer companies in fancy privately funded uniforms?
They turned out in considerable numbers, which leads me to believe many were in civilian clothes, but one can never assume.
      Any help would be appreciated.

      All the best,
