      at Fort Meigs



      Fort Meigs is pleased to again offer a conference on the material culture of the War of 1812 and the Early Republic. This year's conference will be held Saturday April 21st in the visitor center at Fort Meigs, located in Perrysburg, Ohio. Conference sessions include a Period Fashion Show with models in period fashions and notes on clothing construction by Betsy Bashore, Regency Caricatures by Jan Dubbeld, From Plowing to Harvesting and Everything in Between by Jon Kuester, Ain't Nothin' Like the Real Thing: Period Fabric Swatches by Ericka Osen, and From the Waist Down: A Look at Men's Trousers, Pants, and Shoes by Tom Shaw.

      In addition to the conference, the registration fee includes admission to the Friday night social before the conference. Conference registration is $50 and all attendees must be pre-registered and pre-paid. You may access the registration form on-line at:

      A workshop is available on Sunday following the conference for an additional fee. This year's workshop is Ladies Spring Garters by Ericka Osen. This all day workshop will create fancy decorative garters for stockings. You will make a pair based upon examples found in the collections of the Smithsonian, Conner Prairie, and Old Sturbridge Village. Cost for this workshop is $40. You may register for a workshop without registering for the entire conference.
