September 1-2, 2012 Fort Niagara 1812 Event Update
- Once again this year, Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown, New York, will hold its annual two-day War of 1812 encampment on Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend, September 1-2, 2012.
Public programming is anticipated to follow the well-received 2011 model, including: a moderate daily schedule of public-friendly, military and civilian activities; afternoon tactical scenarios each day; and an evening tactical Saturday night. We are also considering adding several new elements this year, including possibly a Ladies' Tea, or a mid-day Sunday dance, for example.
Perks for registered participants include: a free hot breakfast each day; and a free meal of hearty stew with bread, butter and beverage Saturday night. Food will also be available for purchase at lunch from the fort's ever-improving food service facility, "Prideau's Head".
Reenactment units wishing to participate must make their intentions known no later than Friday, August 17, 2012.
Unit representatives please get in touch by email (jbrubaker@...) or telephone (716.745.7611/ext. 225) prior to the deadline, with the usual demographic and canvas data.
While Old Fort Niagara's pre-registration system deals with units as a whole, rather than individuals, individual inquiries are also welcome.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
With best regards,
