Note to 1812 surgeons [possibly off topic]
- I quote from the Toronto Star:
A new US study published in the Annals of Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology [no, really!] describes how doctors treated a girl with a rare hereditary disorder that brings prolonged nosebleeds with what is alleged to be "an old-fashioned cure for uncontrollable nosebleeds:
"cured salted pork crafted as a nasal tampon and packed within the nasal vault succesfully stopped nasal hemorrhage promptly, effectively and without secondary problems."
No more sticking red hot cauterizing irons... Oh, never mind!
