1812 articles in the Toronto Star
- The Toronto Star, newspaper of the center of the universe, seems to be doing a weekly series, on Sundays, on the war. Today's is about a genealogist who has been hired by the city to track down Torontonians who served in the local militia and gave their lives. Profiles of 39 of them will be published under the title "York's Sacrifice'. Because everyone knows dead Torontonians are more interesting than dead any-where-elsers. :7) Mind, that article was far more interesting than the historical pablum contained in last week's '1812 dictionary', whose accuracy has been critiqued by no less than John R. Grodzinski, PhD, Department of History, Royal Military College of Canada, Kingston. But, that's the popular press for you!
