Historic Merchants' Christmas Gathering - Saturday in Burlington, ON
- Good morning, everyone!
Just a quick note to remind everyone that the Historic Merchants' Christmas Gathering is this Saturday, Nov. 26th, from 10 am to 4 pm at the Royal Botanical Gardens, 680 Plains Road West, Burlington, Ontario. Some 30 booths brimming with high quality goods from some of your favourite merchants, museums, and historic sites will be set up for your browsing and shopping pleasure. In addition, the Royal Botanical Gardens is holding their "Doorways to the Holidays" event, which includes sumptuously decorated doors set up throughout the building, an entire room full of model trains, live reindeer, and a vintage Santa so that the kids can confide their dearest Christmas wishes!
One admission gets you into both events. Admission is free if you come in period dress; otherwise, regular Gardens admission will apply, as follows: Adults: $10.00, Senior/Student: $7.75, Child (5-12): $5.75, Child (under 5): free, Family (2 adults, 2 children): $25.00.
Further information, including a link to maps to the site, may be found at http://historicmerchants.com/xmasgathering.htm.
For those looking to make a whole day of it, may we suggest adding an evening's period entertainment, as Battlefield House Museum (just down the road in Stoney Creek, Ontario) holds its Austen-Tacious: A Regency Romp? Details on this wonderful evening of period games, activities, and dancing may be found at http://battlefieldhouse.ca/ (Click on the "Events and Activities" tab).
We hope that you'll join us for what promises to be a day of fun and good companionship -- not to mention one more chance to wear your period kit before it gets packed away for the winter!
All the best,
