SEPTEMBER 3-4, 2011 FORT NIAGARA 1812 EVENT UPDATE
- Planning is well under way for the upcoming War of 1812 event at Old Fort Niagara, September 3-4, 2011. The event is shaping up to be a very nice one and all of us here at the fort do hope you can join us!
THE DAILY PROGRAM will include: a moderate schedule of public-friendly, military and civilian activities; an afternoon tactical scenario each day; and an evening tactical Saturday night.
REENACTOR PERKS will include: a free hot breakfast each day; and a free meal of hearty stew (meat, carrots, potatoes, etc), bread and beverage Saturday evening. Food will also be available for purchase for lunch from "Prideaux's Head", the fort's food service facility.
PARTICIPANT REGISTRATION Reenactment units wishing to participate must make their intentions known no later than Friday, August 19, 2011.
Unit representatives please get in touch via email [jbrubaker@...] or telephone [716-745-7611 ext. 225] prior to the deadline. Be prepared to provide the following information:
unit name; contact person details; anticipated number of participants (combatant vs. noncombatant); expected tent space requirement (#wedges / #walls / #flies) and whether your camp style is "regular/military" or "irregular/militia". ("Modern" camping nearbywithout servicesis also an option.)
While Old Fort Niagara's pre-registration system deals with units as a whole, rather than individuals, individual inquiries are also welcome.
