Yesteryear's Essentials: War of 1812 Material Culture Conference
at Fort Meigs
Fort Meigs is pleased to again offer a conference on the material culture of the War of 1812 and the Early Republic. This year's conference will be held Saturday April 16th at the visitor center at Fort Meigs, located in Perrysburg, Ohio. Conference sessions include a Period Fashion Show with models in period fashions and notes on clothing construction by Betsy Bashore, Children's Clothing of the Early Republic by Tamia Land, Farming in the Early Republic by Jon Kuester, Military Uniforms by Jim Kochan, and Focusing on the Face: Me's Head & Neckwear of the Early Republic by Tom Shaw.
In addition to the conference, the registration fee includes admission to the Friday night social before the conference. Conference registration is $50 and all attendees must be pre-registered and pre-paid. You may access the registration form on-line at:
Workshops are available on Sunday following the conference for an additional fee. This year's workshops are Introduction to 1812 Foodways (historic cooking class) by Susan Odom and Put Up Your Hair: How to Create Hairstyles of the Early 1800s by Julie Brown and Making a Men's Civilian Neckstock by Tom Shaw. You may register for a workshop without registering for the entire conference.
