Here I am again thanking Dave Brunelle for organizing an Educational event
this time at the 'Old Stone House' in the Soo.
Eight hundred teenaged students came through braving the 160mm of rain
Thursday and Friday and I got to shout at all of them! I'm still hoarse. We
assisted in the Ghost walk on Ft St John Island Friday evening then three of
us went to Ft Mackinac Saturday (while interpretation continued at the
Museum)and did a bit of 1812 presentation and musket firing with permission
of the Fort Staff. It was apparently the first time since 1815 that anyone
wearing the uniform of the Royal Newfoundland Regt or the King's Regt
paraded and fired on the square in the fort. Oddly no objections were aired
when we raised the Union Jack, just that we weren't using our hammer stalls
between firings. So being being the professionals we are and gluttons for
punishment we raced back to dinner and another Ghost walk.Sunday was
beautiful laid back and easy paced.
All in all a good educational event.
