Subject: Joseph Brant Day Festival at Lasalle Park - Monday August 2nd

Hi David, great talking to you today. Please see the outline below, which
describes what we are seeking and also attached is the press release for the
event. Thanks so much, Sylvia 905-332-9888

Joseph Brant Day Held at La Salle Park in Burlington, this Civic Holiday
event attracts between 4,500-6,500 people. The regionally recognized Joseph
Brant Day is a full day heritage festival that celebrates history and one of
Burlington's original settlers and national figures: Joseph Brant
Thayendanegea. The festival includes activities for all ages, live music and
unique performances, special historic re-enactments and demonstrations,
various exhibitors and displays, interactive activities and games, artisans,
crafters and other attractions. The event is also one of the largest annual
fundraisers for the Museums of Burlington, with all proceeds going directly
to support the preservation of the historic collection and toward our
children's educational programs at the museums.

Joseph Brant Day pays homage to community life as well as the city of
Burlington. Local exhibitors, including art centres, museums, historical
sites and parks and recreation facilities set up booths at the event which
fosters the sense of community on this special occasion.

With the support of new partners the past number of years, we were able to
offer boat rides, visitor shuttles and hot air balloon tethered rides. Our
line up of entertainment has included the Zacada Circus School, bringing the
traditions of Cirque du Soleil to the event, Ojibway Storyteller, Aaron
Bell, an educational zoo, a drum circle and a canoe builder, alongside
favourites such as the Lost Dancers of the Six Nations and Sophisticated
Swing, a 19-piece big band orchestra.

The museums have been striving to grow the heritage content of this
important event through the increased participation of historic re-enactors
and heritage demonstrators such as a canoe builder, traditional artisans and
tradesmen and military escapements with groups such as he 22nd U.S. Infantry
historic re-enactors and History Comes Alive, all of which have been
      tremendously popular with our audiences.

We are very much seeking military re-enactors for this year's event, to set
up a historic encampment within which they will interact with our visitors.
We do feel it is great exposure for re-enactment groups, to build awareness
and membership, as indicated by the great public interest we see each year.
We are a non-profit organization and have a restricted budget, but we would
work to provide an honorarium to cover some expenses of food and travel for
      the day.

      About Joseph Brant.

Joseph Brant, Thayendanegea was a Mohawk warrior, Christian missionary, a
British military officer, Freemason and Burlington's first citizen. In 1798
George III granted "unto Captain Joseph Brant and his heirs and assigns
forever" 3450 acres "at the Head of Lake Ontario". It was here, in 1800,
that Joseph Brant built his home overlooking Lake Ontario and Burlington

Joseph Brant Museum was built between 1937-1938 as a replica of the original
home of Captain Joseph Brant; the Joseph Brant Museum is Burlington's
community museum. Through guided tours, exhibits, interactive displays, a
hands-on discovery gallery, visible storage, educational programming, and
special events, Joseph Brant Museum tells the important story of the
historical founding, settlement and development of the Burlington area. The
museum also contains a significant collection of costume and costume
