      KEN FISHER - Happy 80th Birthday - 2009/09/11

Ken Fisher, founder and commander of the HMS Charwell Landing Party,
Royal Navy [1812-15], is celebrating his 80th birthday today. You can
extend your congratulations to him personally this weekend from
tonight through Sunday at the Backus Mill reenactment at Port Rowan
Ontario which is on Long Point Bay, Lake Erie. Look for him in the
Royal Navy or British Artillery area of the camp.

Ken and his wife Elsie (who passed away last Fall), were active in the
beginning of a number of reenactment units including HMS Ferret,
Provincial Marines and the Royal Scots (to name a few). They were
also outfitters and black powder trainers for a television series
featuring a now famous TV actor.

It is possible that Ken has now set the record as the oldest active
reenactor. He is putting the finishing touches on a ship's boat which
he built over the winter with hand-stitched sails and rigging and
stills produces authentic canvas tents for fellow reenactors.

      HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEN.
