Subject: 1812 New member introduction
I am a new member of this group so I thought I should introduce
myself. My name is John Potter and I am an Australian reenactor of
the Napoleonic and various other periods including Great War, WW2 and
occasionally ACW. For the Napoleonic period I reenact with the 42nd
Royal Highland Regt (Aust) and a group called Nelson's Navy, both
founding member units of the Australian Napoleonic Association (ANA).
In real life I am an Officer in the Royal Australian Navy and my
family and I are living in the US on a 2 year exchange posting.
Naturally I am using the opportunity to attend as many large scale
events (of whatever period!) as I can without getting myself divorced
before we go home.. ;-)
I have recently signed up with Iain Burns and the newly forming US
42nd unit and would be interested in doing some Royal Navy stuff as
well if anyone has any suggestions for events in the next 18 months.
I understand that there will be a large event in Halifax next year..?
I know that some of the Australian guys are looking into coming over
so I am hoping to attend that if I can get some more details and hook
up with an appropriate group.
Well that's about it from me for the time being. I am planning on
coming to the 1812 GT in September (I couldn't make the recent
Brigade Napoleon event) so I look forward to meeting as many of you
as I can.
Cheers for now,
