      January 9, 2008

      The following constitute the principal basic training and formal activity events planned for the Naval Establishment in the next few years. This principal list will be added to as future events develop.

      2008

      School of the Sailor, Discovery Harbour, Penetanguishene, Ontario. Event chaired by Lt. Thomas Hurlbut, and to consist of a mix of shore side class instruction in elements of seamanship e.g. ropework, and on-water rowing and boatwork. An amphibious tactical involving the 41st Foot, R. Nfld, Regt and other troops, and Magazine Island, is being contemplated. Event theme: the surveys of Captain Henry Bayfield, RN. Date TBD

      Grand Tactical, Jefferson-Patterson Park, Maryland, USA. Event chaired by local committee. Events to include landings, encampments, on-water activities and several battle scenarios. September.

      2009

      School of the Sailor, Location and date TBD.

      2010

      School of the Sailor. Plans now call for a return to Royal Military College of Canada, Kingston, Ontario, and quartering in HMS Stone Frigate as per 2004. Training in brigantine St Lawrence II and in longboats. Eastern Lake Ontario. Date TBD.

      The Yeo Cup. A passagemaking competition between 1812 boats' crews, eastern Lake Ontario. Commencement from Royal Military College of Canada jetty and row/sail-in-company to Bath, Ontario, on the North Channel. Encampment Saturday night, then row/sail-in-company Sunday around Amherst Island back to RMC jetty. Date TBD.

      2011-2015

      An ambitious number of 1812 commemortaive naval events is being looked at to mark the Bicentennial.
