      STRAW HAT WORKSHOP
      November 11-12 9:30 to 4:30 both days

This workshop will explore the history and mystery of straw hats
making in early America and Europe. The workshop will show various
styles worn throughout the years and the tools needed to construct
them. Then students will learn the secrets to making these styles
and work on different stages of "plaited" hats of wheat and rye.
Designing, plaiting, stitching, sizing and adding a liner will all
be discussed in the workshop. Learn how they were made and get hands-
on with the techniques used by straw hat-makers of early America.
The skill level in this workshop is perfect for beginners, as the
simplest of braiding and stitching is all that is required.

      ADVANCE REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
