Just a quick note to let people know the new slate of workshops is up on
      our website for 2005: http://www.5rivers.org/en-gb/dept_39.html

      Campfire Cookery
A weekend workshop dedicated to studying and using historic cooking methods
and technologies, how to interpret those interesting historic recipes, all
in a very hands-on environment where you eat what you prepare. Taught by
knowledgeable historic cook Lorina Stephens, and covers 1000 years of
development. Class limited to four people. Meals and workshop inclusive in
price. $300.00CDN. See website for specific dates.

      Corset Workshops
      Georgian (18th century)
      Regency (1790-1825)
      Victorian
Three different weekend workshops dedicated to discovering the secrets
of constructing Georgian, Regency and Victorian corsets. Students learn how
to adjust a pattern for a personal, custom fit, and period hand-sewing
techniques, in an intimate, hands-on environment. Pattern and materials
included. Students should bring their own scissors, measures, etc. Classes
conducted 9:00 a.m. to noon, 1 ½ hour break for lunch, afternoon session
from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Accommodations and meals not included. Please
visit our links page for local motels and B&Bs. 50% non-refundable deposit
at time of confirmation, balance due at workshop. See website for specific
      dates.

      Embroidery Workshops
      Opus Aglicanum (alms purse)
      Gold Bullion embroidery (sleeve appliques)
      Elizabethan Blackwork (ladies coif)
      Baroque embroidery (18th century pocket)
      Regency embroidery (1790-1825 reticule)

Weekend workshops dedicated to discovering the lost art of some of the most
stunning embroidery of history. Period-correct techniques are taught, so
you're going to learn how to embroider the way it has been done for hundreds
of years. It is my goal to send people away on overload. The workshops are
project-oriented, so you'll have a 'thing' at the end of it all, likely not
finished that weekend, but certainly well on its way.

Classes conducted 9:00 a.m. to noon, 1 ½ hour break for lunch; afternoon
session from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Accommodations and meals not included.
Please visit our links page for local motels and B&Bs. 50% non-refundable
deposit at time of confirmation , balance due at workshop.

Fees include workshop, small hardwood scroll-bar frame, scissors, needles
and all materials required to finish project. See website for specific
      dates.

      Regards
      Lorina
