Re: [WarOf1812] Digest Number 1780 (or US forces and Drill)
- The 19th US Infantry drill on a regular basis throughout the year, and we
take time on both Saturday and Sunday at events to go through the manual of
arms and practice maneuvers.
In addition, we have had "US Garrison or Drill weekends" at various sites
over the years when we invite other US units to come and spend the entire
weekend in a school of the soldier. This has been met with mixed response
and attendance in the past. We generally pick a site around the Great
Lakes, so if you or your unit is in the area, and is interested, please let
one of us know, and we'll provide information.
Finally, the 19th US Infantry does the proper US Morning Parade both
Saturday and Sunday mornings at events. We do not have a set of Regimental
colors, so we do not go through a casing and uncasing ceremony as described
by Steve Abolt of the 7th US Inf.
