Ensign Rupert???? Who may that be?
If, on the other hand, you are inquiring about that Shining example of
Sartorial Splendor, that Wizard of Wit, that Marquess of Manners, that Prince
of Ports, Ensign the Rt. Hon. David Lawrence Lynch, Esq. of His Majesty's
93rd Sutherland Highland Regiment of Foot, then rest assured that I will most
certainly be in attendence, along with at least 3 bottles of fine port (as
long as the airplane authorities don't interfere!)
And if, by some odd chance, any worthy American officer (including any
uncivilized b*****ds which may happen to be about!) would deign to visit the
British Officer's mess, rest assured that I would do my utmost to entertain

the high standards previously established by Mssr. Dorian will be difficult
Needless to say, but for the sake of clarity, OR's, breech-clouted savages,
and unescorted Ladies are, of course, excluded...

Indeed, you are the scion of sartorial splendor, a
willowy well-fount of wit and you've got a good tailor
I shall look forward to seeing you but fear if you
visit Engineer Dorian, you, but your bottles of port
may never be seen again!
Please don't forget, as you were "Bonded" at Chalmette
you are always welcome in the 7th INF mess. That
possum sure is good! Come up and have some.
Also Sgt. Major Lawrence 7th USI reminded me you
consumed all his Scotch while carrying messages
between the lines in January. He trusts you will be
generous in returning the libations which he shared
And, as you are attempting to "purchase" your way up
the ladder I may have an item of sartorial splendor
for sale that not even your Major or General may own!
If it has not been purchased before hand I would say
it would befit an individual such as yourself. One of
my brother American officers may be purchasing it, but
if he doesn't you are more than welcome to have a
go---unless your Major or General gets there first.
Your friendly Uncivilized b------d
