I saw the coat at Fort George too and it is very sharp-looking. I can tell
you that the pattern will be available not only in original British Army
sizes but in expanded sizes for modern frames, if that is what you mean by
making the pattern wearable for modern reenactors.
But we also need to keep in mind that the way a coat fits and the
authenticity of its look are inseparable. I can envision a type of
reenactor who would say "Eeeeewwwwww! I don't like tight sleeves! Make my
coat fit like a windbreaker!" This pattern is not for him. The product he
wants would not make him look like an 1812 soldier - a coat that follows
period fitting practices will.
I know all about the guy who hates tight sleeves because the same thought
crossed my mind the first few times I wore my 1812 stuff, but I got used to
the fit of it. It would have been a shame if I had compromised the
appearance of my impression instead.
