      Hello all,

      I invite you to register for the event coming up next month, Oct. 1 & 2. The 2011 War of 1812 Grand Tactical is in London, Ontario at Fanshawe Pioneer Village.

      A good number of units have registered but not many in each unit. We know a lot more of you are coming and the site needs your registrations ahead of time if possible. Commanders please remind your folks to take a moment and register.

      The Staff, board & volunteers of Fanshawe Pioneer Village and Fanshawe Conservation Area extend an invitation to you, to join us at Fanshawe 1812: Grand Tactical on Saturday, October 1st and Sunday, October 2nd 2011 in London, Ontario.

      With over 33 buildings in a timeline setting. Fanshawe Pioneer Village is a perfect location to bring history to life. Merchants/Sutlers, entertainers and artisans occupy the Village tp present daily life in 1812.

      Period camps in Tecumseh field offer one of the few locations where a Crown Forces regulation camp can be created. Artillery park and militia camps surround the Crown Forces camp.

      Events at the Grand Tactical will interpret General Duncan McArthur's raids of November1814.

      Rules and regulations

      Smoking is PROHIBTED within Fanshawe Pioneer Village as per City of London by-law. The designated smoking area is outside the Visitor Tollgate and within Tecumseh Field.
      Vehicles will be permitted on site for set-up and tear down only. Vehicles must be offsite by 8:30 a.m. on Saturday and will not be permitted onsite again until Sunday at 4:00 p.m. Should one need to leave early cars will be allowed on site Sunday morning from 6:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
      Parking passes must be filled out and displayed on the dashboard of each car.
      No alcohol may be consumed within the perimeter of Fanshawe Pioneer Village.
      Please respect our heritage buildings. Feel free to visit them during the day while they are open to the public, but please do not attempt to enter the buildings after hours.
      Access to Fanshawe Pioneer Village will be restricted after hours. Please inform Fanshawe Pioneer Village staff about any visitors you will be expecting at your earliest opportunity.
      All of your garbage and recycling must be disposed of in the receptacles provided.
      The London North Noise by-law is in effect in the park. Quiet hours are enforced by the UTRCA Security after 11:00 p.m.
      Please keep all vehicles off the grass in the centre of Fanshawe Pioneer Village. Several Septic tile beds are located here.
      We have a number of farm animals living on site. Please do not feed or pet the animals that live here.
      Wild animals are NOT to be hunted, molested or harmed in any way. Fanshawe Pioneer Village is located within a conservation area. Any hunting or shooting of the natural wildlife will not be tolerated, and individuals involved will be asked to leave the site immediately.


      Fanshawe Pioneer Village cafe will be open from 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. A free pig roast dinner will be provided to re-enactors on Saturday evening.
      Showers and restrooms

      Washrooms are available on site 24 hours a day. They are conveniently located behind the Pioneer Village Cafe and numerous lighted portable washrooms with a wash stand are located adjacent to the period camping areas. Showers available in the Conservation area campground. Potable water will be available at various locations.
      First Aid

      First aid is located at the registration building near the service entrance.

      Fanshawe Pioneer Village will be selling ice at the registration building at a cost of $2.00/bag. The ice will be available for purchase Thursday 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., Friday 4:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.; Saturday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Sunday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

      Firewood is available all weekend for re-enactors. Please roll the sod from your firepit and replace it when you leace, burying the ash. Firepits are not permitted within Fanshawe Pioneer Village. Braziers are permitted for use within Fanshawe Pioneer Village.

      We have a $20 Merchant fee for all Merchants/Sutlers that attend this event. All Merchants/sutlers must pre register for this event by filling out this PDF and sending it back to Anne at Fanshawe Pioneer Village.

      Merchants selling food are required to fill out and return a City of London vendor health form. This form must be submitted to Fanshawe Pioneer Village by September 2, 2011 and any applicable fees must be paid at that time. This is mandatory.

      Merchants/Sutlers are considered a valuable addition to the event and are encouraged to attend.

      A small monetary amount is provided for powder expenditure for those who bring and use period artillery. A mileage allowance is paid for those who bring and use period watercraft.
