- Apr 29, 2002For those interested in native history, there is an interesting
exhibit at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.
Entitled Mohawk Ideals, Victorian Values: Oronhyatekha, it is devoted
to the life of a Mohawk scholar and physician.
Orornhyatekha was the grandson of 1812 Mohawk chief Peter Martin.
The exhibit includes many items from the 1812 period, including a
compass given to Tecumseh by Brock, gorgets presented by George III
to native leaders, Martin's tomahawk and an interesting officer's
tunic of a kind I've never seen before.
The exhibit is on in the IndigenousPeoples Gallery on the lower level
