Group Description

The Women of Distinction (a.k.a.), "The Family" is a non-profit (501c) organization founded in 1996 by a group of close friends. The organization consists of African American professional women who are committed to providing a networking and social forum for not only African American women but other nationalities in a non-business type atmosphere.

What began as a collection of private social parties gained momentum and we redirected our focus to include more important issues facing our community. The overwhelming response created an open opportunity for us to focus on major issues and concerns at the same time providing a positive platform for women to interact and bring about social changes.

Our Mission

The Women of Distinction (a.k.a.), "The Family" was created to provide social and cultural enrichment, coupled with educational and support services for the Dallas community.

While our mission is to bridge the gap between female professionals not only in the Dallas Metroplex area but also abroad, our focus is also to bring them together to collectively express ideas that will benefit the enrichment and images of our communities.

What We Do

We have combined party networking events, with educational and supported services for the Dallas-Metroplex community. The community service programs that we have committed our time and support to are: The Women Shelters, AIDS awareness organizations, West Dallas Boys & Girls Club, HABITAT for Humanity, after school mentoring programs and we also provide a yearly donation to "The Bryan's House", an underprivileged children's organization.

Being a non-profit organization has given us unlimited resources, while creating awareness and receiving support from other organizations and people like you.
