      To all and sundry, does Aelia Apollonia send warm greetings!

      The Southern Shores Newcomer's Tourney will be held on March 19, two
      Saturdays from now, in San Jose. This is a wonderful event to attend
      for both newcomers and old-timers alike, so please come out and join
      us in the fun! This year, a new element is being added to the event:
      a full class track geared towards newcomers. Along with SCA
      etiquette, beginning fighting, intro to calligraphy, etc., there will
      be a full track of beginning embroidery classes, details of which are
      listed below. For more information about this event and all classes

      EMBROIDERY CLASSES:
      10:00-11:00
      Blackwork for the Clueless: An Introduction to Double Running
      with Sabrina de la Bere
      Learn the basics and walk away with a bookmark decorated in a
      blackwork pattern.
      Fee: $3
      Max number of students: 10
      Auditors not allowed
      If possible, please bring scissors

      11:30-12:30
      Basic SCA Viking Embroidery
      with Eyvandr Gunnarsson
      Learn some basic stitches to enhance and brighten up that Dark Age
      clothing.
      Fee: $3
      Max number of students: 8
      Auditors allowed
      If possible, please bring scissors and hoops (some will be available)

      1:30-2:30
      Embroidery Stitch: Split
      with Micheila MacCallum
      Learn this versatile fill stitch.
      Fee: $0
