[apologies for those who receive this more than once]

Those who attended Linn's prior classes on Goldwork have been
requesting more goldwork and so here is the class for you.

Some of the things to be covered - Broad Plate (strips of  gold),
leather, special application of spangles, cutwork with gold and silk,
basketweave, and more as time permits. Some time will be spent on how
these techniques show up at different times in history, but for much of
the time we will be stitching.

The teacher -- for those who have not attended one of Linn's classes --
Linn Skinner is an embroidery historian who teaches and exhibits in
England and the US. Linn has studied Blackwork, Goldwork, Jacobean
embroidery and Silk Shading at the Royal School of Needlework, Hampton
Court, and is a founding member of The New Elizabethans, an
international group of embroiderers formed in 1998 to further the
development of classic hand embroidery. For more information on Linn,
and to see her web-magazine, visit her website:
      http://www.skinnersisters.com/

The limit for this class is 16 students and the cost is $100 per person
      - As usual Linn is being a friend of the Guild and our special
embroidery friends and  is giving us a big discount from her usual rate
for this very special class. A minimum of 8 students is needed for this
class and a final deadline for reaching this number is December 1,
      2004 (extended from Nov. 1).

Space will be on a first come first served basis. Your reservation is
your check made out to Linn Skinner and sent to me at Robin Berry, PO
Box 1809, El Granada, CA 94018. If you cancel, a materials fee may be
assessed. If the class is cancelled, checks will be returned or refunds
      made.

Students should be familiar with the basics of goldwork either from a
class with Linn or other teacher.

Location will be at a private home in Half Moon Bay. Class will run
from 9:30 am until 4:40 pm. A deli lunch will be offered for $5 -
      reservations required.

As usual most of the materials will be provided. Students should bring
      the following:  Bring:
5-6" hoop - if you don't have one, some will be available for $2
        pencil or blue wash-out pen
        small ruler
scissors for cutting metallic threads (old embroidery scissors that
may be dulled by cutting metals)
        embroidery scissors
        sewing thread (any color)
bees wax if you have it - some may be available
        note taking materials
lighting and magnification - if you need them

We hope you will enjoy this special class.
