      Sabrina,
Could you tell me more about the linen/cotton fabric we used to do our raised work on at IKINS please? Where do you get it? What weight do you get? Is it 50/50 or close as it comes? Is it white or bleached and does it make a difference? What is a good price?
I want to try it for the ground for my gem work embroidery.
      Illora

JoAnn's carries a linen cotten blend - during their "summer" season. I
comes in lots of colors, but I usually purchase white/off white for
kits and projects. It is around a 50-50 blend and has a nice hand. It
works well for surface embroidery. You can make garb out of it and use
dmc floss - and it washes (usually). On sale price is around $5/yard.

And Fabrics R Us in San Jose has some linnen
in stock. Mid weight, I believe. White, some pastels
            anddustysummercolors, and some pladsand designs
that will make Aunt Zelda squeel with delight.
Nothing fine, and no jewel tone colors.

Located on Berriessa off 680. Linnen is in
their main store next to the Chevron station.
Go all the way to the back wall and to the right
for linnen, or ask one of their helpfulemployees.

FrU also carries a lot of wedding, evening,
drapery and upholstry fabric, some fleece,
a little suit weight wool (probably with pin stripes)
and some crinkled muslin, again in dusty summer
or easter egg colors. They really don't carry
cottons, but do carry batting. Go figure......
Their newest store has jersies and
            other summer dress fabric.

NOTE: You have to know how much fabric
you willneed, they do not carry patterns at FrU.
Use cash for a 4% discount.

WARNING: FrU has been described as
"a bit claustrophobic.". It can also be over
whelming. Do not go an hour before closing,
as they are trying to move fabric in off the sidewalk,
            and literally block the asiles.

Some people love this place, some people hate it.
Shop when you have plenty of time, and
decide for yourself. Try to avoid the shop
on Saturday/Sunday afternoons if you can.
