      Haikus Written July/August 2004

      still beneath the stars
      beauty touched the moon tonight
      contemplation beams

      eternal question
what is the purpose of life
      compassionate breath

      ashes to ashes
      shadows step into the fire
      the phoenix rises

      sunrise light the way
      embrace the shadows of doubt
      moonlight serenade

      surfing current waves
      in oceans of consciousness
      trying not to drown

      drink the sleeper's brew
      conformity's addictions
      land of apathy

      single eye expose
      illusion's field of veiled dreams
      blinded by the light

      tears sting Now's lost hope
a child cries 'no more war'
      paper cranes live on

      thoughts on paper dance
words feel at home in the heart
      release to know more

      buried deep inside
rescued by pure heart and mind
      ancient treasure chest

      heart and mind unite
twin souls sail the breath of god
      universal one

      silence stalks the night
      mystery lives inside the cat
      keeper of the tao

      cosmic threads of light
      weave new strands of DNA
      heaven moves to earth

      sand mandalas speak
      permanent impermanence
      the now travels on

      walks another trail of tears
      addicted to self

      across time and space
      triggered memories emerge
      then and now converge

      ancient artifacts
      planetary healing tools
      hiding in plain sight

      drifting off to sleep
      darkness calls for deep retreat
      dance the thread of light

      start to remember
      the breath of awareness nears
      kiss the rising sun

      keeper of eternity
soul explores the light and dark
      twins forever more

      cosmic oceans merge
      sea of synchronicity
      no coincidence

      look inside the brain
      pineal gland mines pure gold
      philosopher's stone

      sacred serpent rise
climb the ladder to the stone
      explosion within

      truth shall set you free
      create a world of oneness
      cosmic heritage

      east and west unites
      enlightenment meets the void
      twin souls kiss and tell

      teachers birth spirit
      mohammed, buddha, jesus
      prophets of no time

      wisdom keeper knows
      teacher walks among the stars
      ancient ones return

      mystery taunts the circle
      secrets sail the breathless now
      knowledge stored within

      earth and sky create
      twins, as above, so below
      stardancer on wheels

      friends remember when
sands of time give birth to pearls
      lifters of the veil

      who guards the nighttime
      prepares the dreamtime landscape
      watcher waits for dawn

      (written for owl)

      cahokia mounds
      sacred city of the sun
      stairway to the gods

      timelines activate
      great mounds of antiquity
      monk removes the veil

(written after a meditation on Monk's Mound
at Cahokia Mounds in Collinsville, Illinois
on the Mayan Day Out of Time,
      July 25, 2004)

      war club weeps for joy
      transmutes all thoughts of hatred
      shanti, peace, shalom

      mastodons of ancient days
      return their bones to science
      extinction lives on

      (written July 26, 2004

      blue acorn society
      universal breath

      love diversity
respect for the tree of life
      mother nature smiles

      tend the sacred fire
      dancing sparks evaporate
      into the heart of God

      random discussion
hunting bear and deer and doves
      evolution please

      seva the heart line
      be compassion in action
      no sitting on ass

      glimpse the face of death
      dissolve boulders in the road
      guide the hand of fate

      morning glories climb
      fresh food from grandpa's garden
      childhood memories

      dead poets inspire
      regenerative action
      conscience of the world

      spirit of buddha
wanders through the heart and mind
      trying not to laugh

      tears flood emptyness
joy and sorrow taste the same
      twins of illusion

      naked heart and mind
      wearing cloaks of nothingness
      enlightenment strikes

      become peace on earth
      accept the invitation
      dance with compassion

      active imagination
      surf the zuvuya

      dreamer of rainbows
      awakens to sacredness
      beautiful planet

      darkness births the sun
      lotus multi-faceted
      sunset births the moon

      seeker of roads less traveled
      simplicity's child

      portrait of the soul
      imagination's canvas
      dog's mirror image

      swimming with dolphins
      in the depths of consciousness
      splashes of insight

      infinite levels
      dimensions of time and space
      earth is only one

      acorn births ten thousand trees
      standing ovation

The Following Haikus are from December 2002

      paints the universe within
      all that is I am

      seeker of the light
greet the sun and moon within
      empty balance beam

      from the mountain top
what is real, the divine now
      lightening strikes the tao

      where is time and space
      playing in the treasure chest
      with illusion's toys

      light abounds, peace lives
      wisdom dances with the veil
      sun, moon, stars within
