      The Eternal Loop

      walking through quicksand
      trying to reach her hand,
gentle squeezes say I love you, mom
as breath draws the final curtain

dancing the void, clothed in comfort
      spirit inhales the great light
      soaring on wings of freedom,
      exhaling the peace of surrender

      death and birth celebrate life
sharing a bond of life-long friendship
the eternal loop softens its edge
      revealing circle holding the mirror

we cry for what might have been
and laugh at memories held dear,
joy and sorrow define the grand river
      where imagination gestates in starlight

Sharon, thank you for sharing your poem.  I lost my mother about five years ago and your words resonated with my own thoughts and feeling during that

Sharon, thank you for sharing your poem.  I lost my mother about five years ago and your words resonated with my own thoughts and feeling during that experience.  I particularly love the second verse.  Beautifully done.  Sarah
