PARTNER I THANK YOU John Knox
- PARTNER, I THANK YOU
What is in a word?
You tell me, is it something I've never heard
Partner, what does this mean?
To the average Joe, not a damn thing
But ask a Firefighter, Cop or Paramedic
And you might get a real long rhetoric
You see to me this means a lot
Especially when they are watching your back
So you don't get shot
Who is it that comes to save you but the men and women in blue?
And who is there to watch out for me, when I am working so vigilantly
In the morning around two when I wipe the crud from my eyes
Who is it that I see standing next to me?
Of course it's you, the other one in blue
So to this person I say
Buddy, you make my day!
I can count on you in thick and thin
I know you'll watch my back with that damn grin
When that building is still burnin'
Side by side we'll be runnin'
In not out, to get people out
I will always be able to hear you shout, "LOOK OUT!"
Because that is what a partner is all about
So when we get into that dreaded shoot-out
I know you'll be standing there and not running to get out
Or when we are both covered in blood
You are like my other half, standing right there, with your Caduceus
So, to all the others who may read this
It is my fondest wish, that when you go to thank one of us in blue
Please don't forget my partner too.
John K. Knox
