      The New York Japanese-American Lions Club Charities (JALCC) will be holding a one-year memorial for the victims of the March 11th, 2011, Japan Earthquake and Tsunami. The event will be held at Washington Square Park on March 11th, 2012 from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
      This interfaith memorial service will remember the victims with prayers and chanting from several religious traditions including Buddhism, Shintoism, Christianity and others. The US-Japan Memorial Chorus and other musicians will perform. There will also be a chance for participants to do flower offerings and incense offerings for the victims in the Japanese tradition.

        Memory: Things We Should Never Forget

        Friday, February 24 — Sunday, May 27

        An exhibition of 47 photos taken in the Tohoku region of Japan by the Photo Department of Nikkei Inc. in the immediate aftermath of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami and during the ongoing recovery. “Before and after” pairings vividly illustrate the human tragedy of this huge natural disaster and the optimism and resilience of local people as they struggle to rebuild their lives. A video of the work of Japan Earthquake Relief Fund grant recipients will also run.

        Part of ONE YEAR LATER: Commemorating the One-Year Anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake & Tsunami.
