Outside of the US and Canada, this is invariably supported by metal weapons combat and this is done with minimal mandatory armour (authentic helmets and hard leather gloves). Safety is maintained by practice and the use of controlled or ‘pulled’ blows, using the standards and techniques similar to those laid down at the Hastings 2000 and 2006 events. Discussion on all Viking and related cultures as well as those who were strongly influenced by their activities is welcome, as is discussion of the events leading up to and immediate consequences of the Norman invasion of England. Discussions of the beliefs of pre-Christian Scandinavian religions are welcome, but we would rather that discussion of modern Wicca, Asatru, Odinism or other neo-pagan ideas was conducted elsewhere. Membership is open to all residents of Canada and the US, but ia by application only to keep out the spammers. Unless there is a very good reason membership will not normally be allowed for those living outside this area.
Discussion as to how things are done by other societies or at their events is welcome, but list members are expected to refer to other societies in the manner they would expect to be treated by them.
