Fall Celebration Dinner - hosted by the American Vegan Society

The American Vegan Society (AVS) will host this dinner at Carême’s, Academy of Culinary Arts, Atlantic Cape Community College, 5100 Black Horse Pike (Rt. 322), Mays Landing NJ 08330, http://www.atlantic.edu (Carême's is by the on-campus bus stop, in Bldg M.)
Under the direction of their chef educator, culinary students will prepare and present an internationally-inspired 5-course gourmet dinner. Kitchen tours at 5:45pm. Come early to view book table. Menu available at americanvegan.com. Adult: $34, Student/Low Income: $24, Supporter: $50. Reserve by November 1. Thereafter call for seating availability. Prices include a gratuity to assist students with their ACCC culinary education. AVS welcomes donations for its educational programs, including books for culinary students of the evening. Monday November 23, 6:30pmSubject: Fracking & The Food SystemPresenter: Lena Smith, Food & Water Watch.Summary: The expansion of modern drilling and fracking across the country has caused widespread environmental and public health problems and created serious, long-term risks to underground water resources, all of which affect farming and our food. Lena Smith is the South Jersey Organizer for Food & Water Watch, a non-profit advocacy organization that champions healthy food and clean water for all. She will provide an explanation of the process of hydraulic fracturing and its effects on agriculture and rural communities.
