Hello friends, partners and community members-
The San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department is happy to announce that we are actively recruiting for our 2013 Greenagers Program, co-sponsored by the Parks Alliance and Port of San Francisco.
We are looking for Freshman and Sophomore students that either live or attend a High School within the South East Side of San Francisco.
We want to build on our successes of last year to provide an overall enriching program that will help foster team spirit, job readiness skills, promote park stewardship, inspire change and increase students ownership of their neighborhood parks.
Greenagers will empower the students to share their voice and participate in the various community work parties and or meeting within their community and most importantly of all, create a space and opportunity for teens to meet, network and instill a sense of belonging and connectedness to the natural world.
Greenagers are required to meet 3 Saturday mornings a month (1st, 2nd and 4th Saturdays) and occasional weekday evenings and 3rd Saturdays. They receive a $100.00 earned stipend every month based off of their participation and attendance.
Greenagers is a project based service learning program. Students collaborate on ideas and design a group project were they research, design and implement their project as part of their final group project. They connect with like minded teens and begin building their networks and together become a self supporting mentoring group. How better spend your summer and fall than becoming a advocate for your community and youth!
If you or someone you know may be interested, then please make sure to pass this wonderful opportunity on to those ready to make a difference in their community.
We have extended our deadline to April 19th, please pass on the word to all who are interested and if they have any questions they can contact:
