MIDDLEBROOK HUNT SETS WINTER HUNTER PACE Riding through the rolling hunt country just south of Middlebrook will be the order of the day when the Middlebrook Hunt holds its Winter Hunter Pace on Sunday, Nov. 13. The event will be held at the hunt's kennels at 1525 Dutch Hollow Road, and will include several miles of marked trails with views of both the Blue Ridge and Alleghany mountains. Teams of riders, mimicking the speed, or pace, of different flights of the hunt, will go out from 10 a.m. to noon, after which a luncheon and ribbon awards will take place. Divisions are fast time, hunter optimum with fences, English hilltopper with go-arounds at fences, and Western hilltopper to be ridden at a slower, trail riding pace. A fee of $25 includes both the pace and lunch; non-riders are welcome to the lunch at $10 each. Directions and more information may be obtained by calling Ann Smith at 540-885-8888. If the weather is questionable the d ay of the pace, a call for information may be made to the kennels at 540-886-6817.

Middlebrook's Hunt's Spring Hunter Pace will take you through the
picturesque rolling Middlebrook Hunt Country. Fences are 2'6" to 3'6"
with go-arounds or gates at each; divisions are for fast time (may go
out at 8:30), optimum, junior, hilltopper and trail rider; helmets
required for jumping and juniors.
from points north: exit I-81 at Greenville, north on US 11, then left
at VA 701; go left on VA 252 through Middlebrook. Go left on Dutch
Hollow Road to Bold Stream Farm, 1525 Dutch Hollow Rd.
from Staunton: go south on VA 252 through Midldebrook and follow above
From points south: Exit I-81 at Raphine and go west on VA 606, right on
VA 919, left on VA 620 and right on Dutch Hollow Road to second farm on
left/right (black board fence).

at the kennels at Bold Stream Farm just south of Middlebrook, VA., in
theShenandoah Valley. Riders will go out in teams of two from 10 am. to
1 p.m. with divisions for Fast Time, Optimum, Junior, Hilltopper and
TRAIL RIDER. Cost is $25 per person and includes dinner; dinner for
non-riders is $10.
Jumps are from 2 feet to 3'6" and include verticals, coops and
natural obstacles. Helmets are required fro those jumping; there are
go-arounds or gates at every jump as well. Scenery is beautiful and the
hunt country is grand!!
Directions are: from I-81, exit at Raphine and go west on VA 606
through the village of Raphine, then right on VA 919, then left on VA
620 (Newport Road); then right on Dutch Hollow Road to first farm with
black board fencing. Parking is past the kennels on the right in the field.

the beautiful Shenandoah Valley Hunt Country.
Divisions are included for Optimum, Hilltoppers, Juniors and Trail
Riders. Helmets are required for those jumping.
Pulled pork barbecue dinner to follow your ride. Pace cost is $30 per
rider; diners only $10.
