      MIDDLEBROOK TO HOST
      AUTUMN HUNTER PACE

MIDDLEBROOK, VA---The Middlebrook Hunt will host its late fall hunter
pace on Sunday, Nov. 24, at the kennels on Dutch Hollow Road.
The pace, an annual event, gives riders the opportunity to ride the
hunt country and keep their mounts schooled and conditioned during the
traditional hunting lay-off during deer rifle season.
Riders will go out in teams of twos or threes any time from 11 a.m. to
      2 p.m., riding a marked course.
Divisions are fast time (fastest time to count), optimum and junior
optimum (true hunting pace with fences), hilltopper (slower time with
go-arounds at all fences), and trail rider (slowest division).
The Shenandoah Valley terrain is rolling and hilly with a mix of fields
and woods; fences range from 2'9" to 3'6" and include coops, vertical
rails, logs and panels placed in a variety of locations with level land,
drops and uphills. Each fence has a gate or go-around included for
      non-jumpers.
There is an entry fee ($25 per person), and dinner will be available at
any time after a team's ride. The event is being sponsored by the
      hunt's junior riders.
For directions or information, those interested may call MaryAnn Getty
      at 540-886-6817.
