      All,

Thanks to some very worthwhile feedback from  Dave W9NWY I located and fixed some important issues that were causing formatting problems (problems in the Session window display) especially when sending formatted text files.  I also included the acceptance of Tab characters in the session window.

I am still doing some testing and refinements but you can evaluate this test version by doing the following:

Shut down Chat and The H4TNC.

Go into the Chat directory and bring up Chat.ini with notepad or a basic text editor.

Add the following line (as a separate line) to the [Main] section:

      Test Autoupdate=True

Save the Chat.ini file and restart Chat. After a few minutes it should prompt and download the updates if you are running Chat 0.1.7.0 or later.

I hope to come out with a new full release in the next few days.

Still working on ARQ …just too many irons in the fire!

      73,

      Rick Muething, KN6KB

        Hi Rick,

I have updated the software to version Chat 0.1.7.2  - but I have not done a thorough test yet – getting near my bedtime!

I followed your instructions and inserted the line in the Chat.ini file. Also noted that there was already a line in the Main menu which said “Test Autoupdate=False – and saved the file.

On opening Chat again I got a “ .NET error”. I closed Chat and opened the Chat.ini file again and deleted my previous “=True” line and changed the original line from “=False” to =True and saved the file.

I opened up Chat again and waited – the auto update cut in and Chat opened up as normal. I just checked that the CAT system was running OK – that is the only test I did, will test again in the morning.

        Hope this makes sense, Rick.

          Eugene,

You should only have one “Auto Update= “ line.  If it is True it will test the test auto update server.  Once a download is done it will change the line to false.   This is only for test updates…there is no need to do anything for normal auto updates they don’t check the ini file.
