      Gay Marriage ~ Great News!

      Friends,

A Court victory in Connecticut re-established the legality of same-sex
marriage on the basis of Constitutional freedom. An excellent remedy to
the electoral defeat suffered by the Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans and
Pansexual liberation movement in California just a few days ago.

An online magazine based in New York named the Gawker reports the Court
      victory with these words:
"Hurry up and get gay married in Connecticut right now before the voters
ban it. Because today it's totally legal! Eight couples sued the state
to allow the gay marriages, because Connecticut's civil union law was
      kinda-sorta unconstitutional, and they won!"

I've placed the whole article below for your reading enjoyment. It's
really short. And you may want to click on the original page to see a
great photo of a joyful "bunch of lesbians" celebrating right after
getting married. The photo is from the New York Times.

The electoral defeat in California stirred a lot of disappointment but
also brought out some incredibly dignified and inspiring expressions in
defence of Gay Marriage; indeed, in defence of ALL forms of union in the
name of Love regardless of one's sexual identity, preference,
      orientation, desire or definition.

One of them is by Keith Olbermann, who used to work for the giant US
right-wing TV conglomerate named Fox Corporation. His path in life has
taken him from sports journalism to becoming a political commentator.
Keith Olbermann recorded a commentary on that electoral defeat that is a
solid, shining moment of humanist universalism.

It's on a short video item on this page - please have a look.
"...this isn't about politics. This is about the human heart. And if
that sounds corny, so be it":

And below please find the article celebrating the Connecticut victory,
and more details in the New York Times article linked after it.

East Coast Introduces Second State You Can Get Gay Married In
      by Alex Pareene,
      Wed Nov 12 2008

Hurry up and get gay married in Connecticut right now before the voters
ban it. Because today it's totally legal! Eight couples sued the state
to allow the gay marriages, because Connecticut's civil union law was
kinda-sorta unconstitutional, and they won! And today one of those
couples, Barbara and Robin Levine-Ritterman, filled out the gay marriage
paperwork that will destroy forever your traditional marriage paperwork.
So hey, you lose some, you win some, right? You still got Massachusetts
too! What lovely places for gay marriages! California can go to hell.
New England's like Lesbian Vegas right now. [NYT]

      From the New York Times:

"But Ms. Oliveira, 36, a yoga teacher and early childhood education
consultant, and Ms. Vickery, 44, a lawyer, did not wait. Officiating at
the simple ceremony, just before 11 a.m., was their friend, Judge F.
Herbert Gruendel of the State Appellate Court...

Massachusetts and Connecticut are now the only states allowing same-sex
marriage. New Jersey, Vermont and New Hampshire have civil unions, and
California has domestic partnerships, which are similar."
