Has anyone seen Redbelt yet?  I bring it up since Max Martini is in it.  What did you think?

So - I went to see Redbelt tonight.  I usually use the previews (the ones that show before the movie) to kind of judge how the movie is going to be.  Well, the previews weren't that great.  Lots of independent films.  While I don't mind independent films, their previews just leave a bit to be desired!

Either way - the film in and of itself was pretty good.  The message was good.  The delivery of the message, however, was awkward at times.  It just seemed like they were reading off of cue cards.  The dialogue was written that way, I'm assuming - so that wasn't all the actors fault.  Sometimes there were two conversations going on at the same time - and it was hard to keep track!!!

Max was good in this - not a lot of screen time, unfortunately.  But it was interesting that there were two other Unit actors in the film - so it must have been a little bit of an "old home week" kind of feel when they were filming.  Rebecca Pidgeon (Charlotte Ryan on the Unit) and Ricky Jay (Agent Kern on the Unit) played in the film.  Kind of weird that I don't like either character on the show - and they didn't redeem themselves in the movie either.

The fight scenes were good - but the camera work kind of made a mess of it - too close in - they need to back off a bit, so we can actually see the fights.   The story had some great twists in it - some which just made my jaw drop!  Didn't expect a lot of it, so that was great.

I'd recommend the film but not at the high prices that it costs to get into movies these days.  We got very lucky and got student discounts for some reason, making it a little more worthwhile.

I'd be interested to hear anyone else's thoughts!!!
