Winter Hours of Operation at Historic Sites
For Immediate Release: October 30, 2013
*Fort Lee Historic Park has school programs every Wed-Friday in October and November. The site will have a Halloween program on October 26th at 5:30-7 and the annual Retreat Weekend on November 23 and November 24, 10-5 pm. The grounds will be open year round to the public and the Visitor Center is open Wed-Sunday 10-4:45. Exciting winter programs are in the works! For more information, please call 201 461-1776.
*Fort Montgomery State Historic Site: The site will close for the season on Thursday, October 31, though the site will still be open by reservation for group tours. The site will also have Thursday night speaker programs at 7:00 PM on November 14th and December 5th. For more information, please call 845 446-2134.
*Stony Point Battlefield State Historic Site: The Battlefield museum will close on Sunday, October 27. The grounds will remain open Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 4:00 p.m., weather permitting. The site is closed on weekends throughout the winter months. The site reopens April 16, 2014. For more information, please call 845-786-2521.
*New Windsor Cantonment and Knox's Headquarters living history closes for the season at the end of the day on Thursday, October 31. The site will have a Christmas event on Saturday December 14 & Saturday December 21 as well as tours at 10AM, 11AM, 1PM, 2PM & 3PM, December 26 - 29. The site will also have the Presidents weekend event in February. Any other visits by appointment. The Visitor Center along with Purple Heart is open all winter. *Washington's Headquarters State Historic Site: The last day for Autumn Schedule is Sunday, October 27th. Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site is gearing up for an eventful Winter Schedule. Starting Friday, November 8th, the site will be open every Friday and Saturday, 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. The site will be available to visitors by appointment Tuesday through Thursday and also open for Special Events such as Warm Up with the Washingtons on December 8th, Winter Welcome Week (December 26th-28th), President's Day Weekend (February 15th-17th) and the General's Lady in March. *The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor: will be open 7 days a week. Please call (845) 561-1765 for hours of operation or for more information.
*Senate House and Senate House Museum are open for tours through Oct. 31. After that, by appointment only. Loughran House Civil War exhibit is open on Sundays from 1pm - 4pm through mid-April. The Christmas Festival of Lights is scheduled for December 6, from 5pm - 8pm. Lecture series continues throughout the fall and winter every third Friday of the month at 5:30pm.
