Beer tents, official response
- View SourceAll,
Here is a definitive response from Peter Van den Abeele, head of the UCI
cyclo-cross commission, on the recent news about banning "beer tents" in
>> 2. We have a number of organizers here who have read about the "no beer tent"Drink away...
>> rule in the news, but have no official information. We have a number of
>> events that had planned their courses this way, and it's a rare treat when we
>> can do it in the US, as many venues don't allow public drinking. We've never
>> had the problems here with drunken fans and bad behavior.
> This is one big MISTAKE which caused me a lot of problems¹ during the
> weekend, UCI doesn¹t have a Rule saying beer tents are not longer authorized,
> and we didn¹t discuss this item yet. The Belgian Cycling Federation doesn¹t
> want beer tents any more in their races!! Press people sometimes quote things
> WRONG, I called the concerning journalist to clarify this item.
>> How will this rule be enforced, and do I have to advise these US organizers
>> to modify their courses?
> NO !!!!
