    Message 1 of 1 , Nov 14, 2012

      Rev. John Oda

      Transition and Search, Chair

      November 5, 2012

Chicago, Illinois, [November 13, 2012]The Board of Directors of Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) seeks a leader to pursue RMN’s goal of creating a fully inclusive United Methodist Church for all God’s children, including lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer persons.  The successful candidate will expand upon 28 years of successful grassroots organizing in the United States, five years of national campaigns, and a recent launch of international work with United Methodists in Africa, the Philippines, and Europe.  The candidate will be familiar with the United Methodist faith experience and skilled at articulating a vision that continues to draw resources to advance RMN’s mission and implement the organization’s strategic plan.

RMN is one of the best ways I know to be biblically obedient and to practice following the Gospel’s demand to love God and love neighbor.  I look forward to being in ministry with the one God is now calling to be RMN’s new executive director.                                       –RMN Board Vice Chair, Bishop Melvin Talbert

RMN is a faith-based non-profit organization that mobilizes United Methodists of all sexual orientations and gender identities to transform the church and world into the full expression of Christ’s inclusive love.  Operating with a $1.2M annual budget, six staff, multiple contractors, hundreds of volunteers, and thousands of reconciling United Methodists, RMN serves over 500 United Methodist congregations, campus ministries, and regional networks.

RMN is at the forefront of ecumenical faith and secular organizing for LGBTQ equality. Grounding its ministry in the Wesleyan quadrilateral, and balancing both personal and social holiness, RMN stands at the center of United Methodism in freeing individuals, congregations, and the denomination itself from anti-inclusion discrimination.

Tens of thousands of United Methodists are waiting to hear an inclusive Gospel.  RMN is strong and nimble and putting hope into action for all of God’s children every day.  I’m excited to see who emerges, who Christ calls, to steward this deeply faithful fast moving stream for justice.

–RMN Board Chair, Rev. Dr. Bonnie Beckonchrist
