Re: [TriumphTrophy] Tempreture of bike
- Your "tech" doesn't know Triumph Trophies of this series as well as he would like you to believe.
As I have said before, there is a difference between those who are "certificated" and those who are qualified. Sometimes, one can find a tech who is both. Just because a tech has a certificate, doesn't mean he is "qualified" to get near any of my machines.
Hence, I do 99.5% of my own wrenching.
The work is not difficult and most of it does not require special tools. Read through the files section on this list and purchase a manual Haynes will cover most of it for the average person's needs.
Where are you located?

Recently has 12000 mile service done on my 1991 Trophy 1200, the Tech said there was something wrong with the Thermostat ie open all time, as the temp would shot up to about half way on gauge when stopped fan kicks in then drops down to cold when moving again, Fan shuts off he said should get it sorted as the bike was not getting to optimum temp. well replaced the Thermostat, checked it opens at 83 deg. C so that ok, went to check old thermostat and that opens at correct temp too... Checked coolant level all ok system burped and topped up etc.
So my questions are :
A) Is there something wrong with the cooling system
B) What does your temp gauge do
C) Is this normal for the 1200 Trophys
