  • I had to be in Kansas City last week for a business meeting, so I took advantage of the opportunity to scope out a few new tracks to hit during my time there. Thursday had two options with an MLRA Late Model show at Oskaloosa, IA (Souther Iowa) and a regular show at Columbus, NE (US 30). By 9am both tracks had rained out. Adding insult to injury, I made the 3-hour drive to Des...

  • Just came across this from TYLER COUNTY SPEEDWAY in Middlebourne, WV, so I figured I'd pass it along. The race date is Saturday, July 4th. A family friendly night of mayhem and destruction featuring a 1st ever must see $500 to win Figure 8 Race of Destruction and a Smash n’ Crash Demolition Derby (Full Size & Compact) presented by Thomas Motorsports! Plus Kids Club Pizza Party...

  • Made my first ever trip to Port Royal Speedway Saturday night for the Appalachian Mount Speedweek. A stout field of 47 Late Models were joined by 25 Sprints and 12 Xtreme Stocks. The racing was "typical" big track racing early on, with cars very strung out...but as the groove widened, the action got much better. The LM feature was a dandy with Gregg Satterlee and Mason Zeigler (in...

  • Hard to believe, but I had never been to the Bedford (PA) Fairgrounds Speedway until Friday night. They held the $4000 to win Johnny Grum Tribute for Late Models. 26 cars signed in with Gregg Satterlee getting the win from 8th. Despite a tardy start due a late afternoon shower, the program was efficiently run and the LM feature was over at 10:15pm. Bedford becomes track #185. I'm...

  • Despite inclement weather all week and in the surrounding areas, Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS was able to get their regular show in on Friday, April 17th making Track #184 and state #44 for me. Car counts were minimal (48 cars in 5 classes), racing was average, and the program had its glitches...including a 30 minute delay to fix the frontstretch lights that went out...

  • Another off weekend from Eldora meant another opportunity to catch racing at a new track. Friday's destination was Auburn's MI's Tri-City Motor Speedway. Once a Wolverine State asphalt stalwart, a 3/10-mile dirt track has been constructed almost entirely inside the old 1/2-mile paved track. Five classes were on tap were 22 Late Models, 18 IMCA Modifieds, 23 Pro Stocks/Sportsmen, 18...
